Sunday 4th September
We
woke about 10am but by the time we had sat on the balcony and taken our time,
the breakfast had all been put away. We ended up getting a hamburger and fries from
the Mast Grill.
After
sitting in the sun for a while, we went to watch the dance class downstairs.
Their version of Salsa was very strange. They counted in groups of 12 and they
changed feet at odd times. It must be a result of dancing on stage, and starting
each group of steps facing the audience. Where the natural way to turn into New
York-style steps would be right foot for ladies, they made it left foot. The
dancers, consequently, were doing a range of turns! We had a good laugh
watching them. Some arm movements looked more like exercises than dance
movements.
The
rest of the day was spent by the pool. I sat in the shade reading until a chair
next to David came available. We lazed in the hot tub and swam in the pool. We did quite a bit of people watching.
One
disappointment was that we could not find a bar open that served Tanqueray 10
for David or even pomegranate mojitos for me. After paying the extra for the
Premium package, we could not use it until the evening!
David
offered to do my hair for dinner that evening, and created a spiky style that
came forward onto my face instead of back from the face.
Dinner was not great.
We did not want any of the starters and David was disappointed in his beef
Wellington.
We
went downstairs where the orchestra was playing and managed to dance a merengue
and a quickstep. We really did not know what to do after that, as there was
nothing interesting on. We tried the Sky Lounge but found there was a game
there. We saw it through and then spoke to Justin, the Activities Manager,
about dancing tempi. He told us that Celebrity is trying to phase out ballroom
dancing as it considers it to be old-style cruising. What a pity.
David
was tired and we could not be bothered waiting around for a brief show at 10.30
so we went to bed. Unfortunately the TV was playing up and would not retrieve
the film David was halfway through watching. He went to sleep while I read.
Within 10 minutes he started chuckling and then talking in his sleep. It was
incredibly funny. I took note of everything he said and read it back to him the
next day. It all seemed to be based on incidents from his childhood and was all true.
